There is a long tradition of representing the human figure in ceramics, from the elegant simplicity of Cycladic Mycanean figures that inspired Picasso to the Baroque Meissen extravagances parodied by Barnaby Barford. My figures are extracted from frescoes and paintings or inspired by novels, softly modelled the painted surface animates a sense of characters in waiting.
